ACCOUNT & DATA SAFETY
Request account and data deletion
Dearwhile (Android package: com.memora.memories) gives you full control over your personal account and stored data. You can delete your account and its associated data directly within the mobile app or submit a deletion request from this web page without needing to open or reinstall the app.
Looking to delete specific photos, memories, or personal data without deleting your entire account? Visit our Request Data Deletion page.
Option 1: In-app account deletion (Instant)
If you have the Dearwhile app installed on your Android or iOS device, you can delete your account immediately:
- Open the Dearwhile app on your device.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Scroll down to the settings section and tap Delete account.
- Review the confirmation notice, type DELETE in the box, and tap Permanently delete account.
Your session is signed out instantly, your account credentials and personal profile are removed, and all memories and media you own are scheduled for permanent background deletion from our servers.
Option 2: Web or email deletion request
If you do not have the app installed, cannot log in, or prefer to request deletion online, you can submit a deletion request by email:
- Send an email to [email protected] with the subject Dearwhile Account and Data Deletion Request.
- Please send the request from the email address registered with your Dearwhile account (or clearly mention your registered Google or Apple sign-in email).
- To protect account owners, we will verify your identity via a confirmation message to that email address before performing deletion.
- Once confirmed, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. You will receive a final confirmation notice when the process is complete.
Email Account Deletion Request
What data is deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently erased from Dearwhile:
- Account & profile information: Your user identity, registered email address, display name, and avatar image.
- Owned memories: All memories, albums, titles, dates, locations, notes, and story discussions you created.
- Media files: All original photos, videos, and preview thumbnails stored in memories you own are queued for permanent deletion from Cloudflare R2 storage.
- Notifications & device tokens: Push notification tokens, activity logs, and device associations.
- Saved contacts: Private email contacts saved in your account.
Data retention and exceptions
In accordance with Google Play data safety policies, we disclose any data retained and the applicable retention period:
- Contributions to shared memories: Photos, videos, and notes you contributed to memories owned by other users remain in those memories so other members do not lose their shared group memories. However, your account identity is permanently detached and anonymized. If you want specific contributions removed prior to account deletion, you can delete your moments inside those memories before submitting your account deletion request.
- Operational and security logs: Technical infrastructure logs (such as transient HTTP server logs and IP addresses) may be retained for up to 30 days strictly for fraud prevention, server security, and debugging, after which they are automatically purged.
- Commercial retention: We do not sell, rent, or retain your data for advertising or commercial purposes.
